Explore the urban music scene.
The overwhelming flow of data and the ever-growing array of information in urban environments often diminish our ability to focus on and explore our surroundings. This overload hinders the natural joy of discovery and makes choosing cultural activities more challenging. My bachelor thesis, “Exploration of a Digital-Analog Navigation System in Urban Spaces,” addressed this issue by investigating how digital media and sensory interaction can enhance cultural discovery and orientation for young people in cities.
Using a user-centered design process and iterative phases, real user needs were methodically analyzed, leading to the creation of an innovative concept and an interactive functional prototype. The result, EVAR, is an EVent RAdar designed to simplify urban navigation while providing personalized access to cultural offerings. EVAR projects real-time event locations onto the ground, allowing users to select events intuitively by turning their feet toward a direction. As events are selected, users can hear the music associated with each location. An optional app, activated through interaction with the installation, offers more detailed information about the events. EVAR reimagines urban exploration, blending digital tools with sensory interaction for a seamless cultural experience.
