Share your most cherished moments right to the living room of your loved ones.
Could digital media and new interactive forms be used to connect young and elderly people better?
During my Bachelor studies, I focused on physical computing and networked interaction design. In the project All Good Things, my fellow students and I developed a functional prototype that addressed the challenge of fostering meaningful connections for elderly individuals.
The concept was based on extensive user research and interviews, which identified a need to reduce feelings of loneliness among older adults while helping them stay in touch with their loved ones. Additionally, the task required designing a digital product that could be easily used by non-digital natives.
The resulting prototype was a modular system of display tiles, designed to be expandable as needed. Each tile represented a dedicated news channel for a specific person. Users could share one photo or video per day through these channels, ensuring that each message remained visible for at least 24 hours, creating a lasting impact. Personalized greetings accompanied the messages, making the communication more intimate and meaningful. The emphasis on a physical display in a prominent location further highlighted the value of the shared moments.
Beyond messaging, the system also included features to help organize events, fostering real-life connections and gatherings among loved ones.
